Hank

Black Lab PuppyHank is a very friendly 1 year old dog.  He loves everyone he meets and would make a great family pet or companion dog for an active person. He is good with other dogs, kids, and he even likes cats! Hank has good energy and loves to play. He was adopted as a young puppy to an older gentleman, and proved to be too much for him. Hank will need an active home with lots of attention. He sits for treats and is very eager to please. He just wants positive attention and lots of love.

**Hank has a bad habit of constantly jumping up on people, so we sent him to the prison … he was enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program for 8 weeks of obedience training!  He will be at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. He will be crate trained, learn manners (like not jumping up on people) and he may even learn some tricks as well. Hank will be looking for a forever home before he graduates in late March, so if you are interested in meeting this fun guy, please contact us!

Itsy

Paws in PrisonPIP

Itsy is such a character. She loves most people but is scared of some for no apparent reason. She loves other dogs and does not do well being the only dog. She did come here with her sister Iris at 8 weeks old and has never been alone. Itsy was adopted to a home where she was the only dog and she just shutdown. The woman had her friend bring her dog over for a playdate and Itsy loved it! But as soon as they left, she went back to hiding. So a home with at least one other dog is required. Itsy loves to play in water and explore every inch of the yard. She also loves squeaky toys. This sweetheart is currently a year old and weighs 52lbs. She will not get much bigger.

Itsy graduated from the Paws in Prison Program a while back where she received 8 weeks of obedience training. She is now crate trained, housetrained and leash trained too. She knows how to sit, shake, go down and several other commands.

Missy

White Boxer

Missy is a beautiful white Boxer/Bully mix with black speckles.  She is about 2 years old and full of energy – she just loves life! She does well with other dogs but is too energetic for small kids (tends to knock them over). Missy craves attention and loves to run and play. An active family or person to take her on adventures and keep her busy is ideal. Missy is house trained and very eager to please. She is deaf but that doesn’t bother her; she still sits for treats, and boy does she sleep hard!

**Missy is very high energy and known to be rambunctious, so we sent her to the prison … she was enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program for 8 weeks of obedience training!  She will be at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. Missy is paired with trainers who will be able to work with her even though she is deaf. They will be able to control her hyperactivity and calm her down a bit as well as teach her some manners. She may learn some tricks too. She will graduate early March.

If you would like to provide Missy with a loving home upon completion of her training, please click the link below to complete an adoption application and we will contact you!

Georgia

Greyhound MixGeorgia is a year and a half old and weighs 70lbs. She is slender and tall with beautiful bold brownish-red patches on her white fur. We think she may have some Greyhound and/or Great Dane in her. Georgia is friendly and loves other dogs but thinks cats are food. She has a lot of energy and loves to play in her water bowl. She does best with another dog to rough-house with but a home with no other dogs that offers constant attention will be just fine.  She likes riding in the car as well, so she would be a great adventure buddy! Georgia does not realize how big she is and could knock younger kids down trying to play, so a home with older children/no children is suggested. Georgia also loves stuffed animals so much that she loves them to death (aka tears them to pieces).

**Georgia was enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program and completed 8 weeks of obedience training.  She was house trained and learn commands like sit, stay and down. She was a little frightened at the prison and this interfered with her training, but she is much more calm now and listens a lot better than she did before going. This demonstrates that Georgia is very trainable if you wanted to further her abilities.
