Miss Gracie was brought back to the shelter after 5 years in her home and we are so glad for this return. Gracie had developed a skin condition that needed treatment, but her owners did not want to treat it and it got really bad over time. The skin on her chest, legs and ears is raw, scabby and oozing. This infection is not contagious and is treatable. It is a skin allergy that turned into a fungal function due to lack of treatment. She is now getting the treatment she needs and deserves. Miss Gracie is the friendliest dog, despite the fact that humans had neglected her. She gets so excited and gets that tail wagging when we walk into her room. She does the same thing when she sees other dogs. Gracie is just the sweetest thing in the world and she deserves a loving home that will provide her with the care she needs. She will require a monthly allergy injection once her skin is back to normal. Gracie is 5 years old and weighs 70 lbs.

Tex is a character! He is a Husky but with wire hair, so we think he has some Airedale Terrier in him. He really is an amazing dog, very smart and sweet. He is housetrained and super friendly with people and other animals. We learned he is an escape artist – he broke out of his pen and jumped over a 6 foot fence! We realized he just needed time to settle in and he also wanted to be near people. He is a very socialized dog and loves to be with people. He would do great in an active home with a big family or with people who will take him everywhere with them. He would be a great adventure buddy. Tex is learning not to jump up on people. Other than that, he is a great dog. He is about 1.5 years old and weighs 60 lbs, could gain about 5-10 more lbs.
Honey and several other dogs were abandoned. Their owners just up and left one day, leaving all of their belongings and animals behind. We went to the house to see the situation and Honey kept coming outside and running back in. We followed her and found that she had just given birth and had 1 baby, Maple (Maple was born 8/19/25). We brought both of them to the shelter that day. We don’t have any history, but we do know that Honey is very sweet, calm, friendly and has a very loving nature. We also know she is good with other dogs, cats and children. Honey is house trained and knows basic commands. She is about 2 years old, 55lbs and will be spayed when she is done nursing.

**Maverick was enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program for 8 weeks of obedience training. He will be at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. He will be crate trained, learn manners, and he will learn lots of tricks as well! Lil’ Red came to us after his owners moved out of state and left him, and several other animals, behind to fend for themselves. He is extremely friendly, playful, and has a very gentle, loving nature. He is good with other dogs, of all sizes, and likes cats too. Lil Red looks like a puppy, but he is about a year old and full grown at 30lbs. He is house trained, neutered and current on vaccinations. He is a Beagle Mix. Lil’ Red is a little snuggle bug and will light up your days with his positive energy.

Louise came to us with her sister, Thelma. Both showed up as strays and were never claimed. Louise is very shy and timid at first, but is very receptive to belly rubs, treats and attention. She is house trained, crate trained and is good with other dogs and kids. She can climb a short fence so would need a taller fence. Louise would need some time to adapt to your home but after she feels safe, she will make a great family pet. Louise is just under a year old and is a Red Heeler/Australian Shepherd Mix. She has a cute little nub tail and is 30lbs.
Little Sadie is such a clam, quiet and sweet soul. She enjoys laying and sitting around, observing all the other dogs and people. She can be shy at first but that is expected with dogs coming from situations like hers. She came from a home that had 11 other dogs and they were all being badly neglected. Despite that, she loves affection and is good with other dogs. She loves to snuggle and be loved on. She is learning about leashes and going for walks and she loves being inside the shelter and having a cool floor to lay on after playing out in the yard. She does not potty in her room here so will be easily house trained. Sadie is about a year old and only weighs 30lbs and won’t get much bigger. She will make a wonderful dog for any dog lover.
