Zane came to us with 6 of his siblings, Clover, Cora, Cici, Zeke, Margo and Mango. Dad is a Red Heeler and Mom a Shepherd Mix. They all have the biggest ears you have ever seen! Zane has been both inside and outside and is good with cats, kids, and other dogs. He is very timid but we are working on that and giving him tons of socialization and reassurance. He really enjoys affection, but he will take time (a few weeks) to settle into your home. Patience is necessary with puppies that are scared like this litter is. Leroy came from a home that has too many dogs. He and his 5 siblings grew up in a small pen with little socialization. He craves affection and accepts it! Leroy is underweight but has a healthy appetite and is eating well. He is the smallest of the bunch, so the other dogs must have not been letting him get to the food…poor guy! He is not housetrained but we offer free online obedience training to all of our adopters via Dog Academy. Leroy is very sweet and just wants to be loved. He will make a wonderful dog for anyone looking for a companion. He is about a year old.
Lefty came from a home that has too many dogs. He and his 5 siblings grew up in a small pen with little socialization. He craves affection and accepts it, but can be a little shy at first. He was so scared the first day he came to the shelter that we had to carry him everywhere. Today, he wonders around with curiosity and excitement. He is still a little timid, but is getting more confident each day. He just needs to learn that he is safe and that we aren’t going to harm him. Lefty had never been brushed or bathed before we got him so his coat is pretty ragged, but we are brushing him daily to get it looking good again. He is not housetrained but only goes in his outside area here, so should be easily trained. We offer free online obedience training to all of our adopters via Dog Academy to help with that. Lefty will be a wonderful dog for any dog loving home! He is about a year old and weighs 55lbs.
Oreo was adopted from our shelter when she was a puppy. Sadly, her owner passed away so she had to come back. She is now 5 years old and weighs 50lbs. Her speckled chest and other marking lead us to believe Oreo is an English Pointer mix. She is an easy-going, happy go lucky gal that is always smiling. She loves to chew on bones and also likes to bury them in the yard, for safe keeping. She has been known to pick up her food bowl and bring it to you when she is finished eating and she loves cuddles and pets and playing with other dogs. She also enjoys being outside and going for walks. Oreo is full of character and we are learning more about that each day. She does not appear to like being around a lot of noise, so a loud home with lots of people or kids might not be best for her. Other than that, Oreo will be a wonderful dog for the lucky person who snags her up!
Josie came from a home that has too many dogs. She’s been in a pen most of her life and has never received much attention. In spite of that, she is friendly (shy at first) and very receptive to human attention and care. Josie seems to enjoy being inside in our shelter and receiving TLC. She loves other dogs and would be good with kids too. Josie has only been outside, so is not house trained but we offer free online obedience and house-training via Dog Academy. We were told Mom is a Treeing Walker Hound and dad a Shepherd Mix. Josie is a year old and weighs 50lbs.
**Cici was enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program for 8 weeks of obedience training. She will be at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. She will be crate trained, house trained, learn manners, and she will learn lots of tricks as well! Cici will be looking for a forever home before she graduates in mid July, so if you are interested in meeting her, please contact us!
