Kiari

Great Pyrenees Mix PuppyKiari’s mother was a Great Pyrenees and we have no idea what the Dad was, but she is going to be a big girl when full grown though (maybe 80lbs).  She is very friendly and would be good with other dogs and kids.  Kiari was abandoned by her owner with her 3 siblings and has only ever been outside, until coming to the shelter. She has a gentle nature and is well mannered. She is 7-8 months old now (as of 2/29/24) and has medium length white fur with Brindle patches. She currently weighs 45lbs and will probably be around 60-70 lbs full grown.

Blaze

Male Hound DogBlaze is a good looking, young Hound Mix. His mother is a Golden Retriever and we have no idea who dad is but he was obviously a hound, we are guessing Coonhound.  Blaze has not been inside before coming to the shelter, but he appears partially housetrained.  Blaze also has that classic hound “Bay” and let’s you know when he wants something. The fur on his back is thick and a little wavy, showing the Retriever in him, and would you look at those GLORIOUS floppy ears?! Blaze is very energetic and playful and will make a great family pet or companion for an active person. He is a year old now and weighs 75lbs.

Rain

Female Hound DogPaws inPrison

Rain is such a beautiful Hound/Lab Mix! Her black fur gleams reddish color in the sunlight and she has those long droopy hound ears – so gorgeous! Rain is friendly and curious, very eager to learn and to please. Her mother is a Golden Retriever and we have no idea who dad is but he was obviously a hound, probably a Coonhound. Rain came to us with her brother Blaze. Rain is just about a year old and weighs 60lbs, but shouldn’t get much bigger.  Rain has never been inside before coming to the shelter, but adjust to new environments very well.  She is also very smart – she is the leader of the pair.

***Rain just entered the Paws in Prison Program and will receive 8 weeks of obedience training.  They say she is doing great already! Rain will be house trained, crate trained and learn a lot of tricks too.  She will graduate the end of April and will be ready for her forever home!  Contact us today if you are interested in meeting her.

Sarge

Airedale Terrier Mix

Sarge is the friendliest, most easy going and loving dog.  He came to us from a family that had too many animals and they could not properly care for him. He is currently about 2 years old and full grown at 70lbs. Sarge does very well with other dogs (small dogs too) and is gentle enough for kids too. He is not a fan of cats though. Sarge is an attention seeker, so he will need a home that is fine with him sticking right by your side at all times. He loves to raise up and put his front paws on people, like a hug or as if he wants to dance.  Sarge is an all around great guy and will make the perfect companion for any dog lover.

Emmie

Mountain Cur Female

I’m Emmie! Pls let me introduce myself…(long bio but please read the whole thing)

I consider myself a charmer, but very shy at first. I give my affection only to the most special humans (altho’ I am not so picky about dogs!) I’m an introvert, a homebody, and most comfortable with my dearest humans. I love them SO much that I will come up on my back legs and put my front paws on them; I then stare into their souls with my big, dark, puppy-dog eyes until they give me some lovin’. My staff’ here calls this my ‘signature move’ to get the affection I crave—and it works! I also love my treats but I remember to take them gently. Sometimes I won’t even take a treat unless you give me loveys first (that is usually when I have to use my “signature move”).

If you want to be on my Love List, you can get there by slowly becoming familiar to me. I want to know you more, to trust you. No special girl wants to be rushed!  I prefer to meet you at my level (chair or floor) and it might take a few visits– I have my own time table, but once I love you, it is forever.

My Happy List includes booty scratches and going for walks. I enjoy walks on a leash but I do not like to go to places with a lot of people. My Dream Home has a mature human who is also an introvert homebody or just doesn’t have a lot of company.

My Dream Home also has another dog because I’m not confident and I frighten easily, so I need a confident dog buddy in the home so I can relax. I just love dog buddies to play with! I prefer to be in a place I feel safe if a visitor I don’t know arrives (like in a bedroom or out in the back yard).

I have been waiting for this special human/family who understands me and can keep me safe by avoiding my Afraid List and focusing on my Happy List. Patience with me will get you the best dog you could ask for!

I hope my Dream Home will offer to foster me or dare I hope, adopt me, soon.

Kenna

Husky MixKenna is 2.5 years old and weighs 62lbs. She is very slender and sleek with a blue speckle in one of her eyes- just a beautiful dog! She was returned to us after 2 years in a home, adopted as a puppy.  The family just had a baby and Kenna became very protective of the baby and would fight with the other dog when it got too close.  They were heartbroken to bring her back because she is really a great dog – loves to cuddle and is pretty calm and gentle.  She is also housetrained and knows some simple commands. Kenna, for the most part, gets along with other dogs and loves kids.  She has not been around cats, but we can introduce her if needed.

Opie

Blue Eyed KelpieOpie came to us, with his brother Oden.  They were adopted as puppies and just returned for killing 2 chickens and chasing the family cat. Opie does really well with other dogs and kids too.  He has a very loving, calm nature and would make a great family pet in a home without chickens.  He has the most beautiful blue eyes you have ever seen and is full grown at 36lbs. Opie is on the timid side but will do fine in a home with another dog – he is unsure of himself but feels confident with another doggo around.

Ballet

German Shepherd MixAre you in the mood to cuddle? So is Ballet. Are you in the mood to run around and play? So is Ballet! She is down for whatever the mood calls for. Ballet adapts to her environment and although she can be shy with strangers, she gets used to them pretty quick and comes out of her shell. She does great with most other dogs and kids too. Her mother is a Red Heeler (40lbs) and dad may have been a German Shepherd, but we do not know. She has slightly wirey-hair and look at those big ears! This young lady is spayed, vaccinated and ready for adoption! As of 2/8/24 she is barely a year old and weighs 46lbs.
