This little cutie is Elvis! He is 7 months old and weighs 20lbs…we don’t think he will get too much bigger. He was surrendered to us with his 3 siblings because their family had too many dogs and couldn’t afford them. One parent is a Shepherd mix. He is very small so we are guessing the other is a Terrier. Elvis is very affectionate and loves attention. He kind of hugs you when you pick him up. He likes his toys too and playing with his siblings. Elvis is very good with other dogs and would probably do well with cats too. He is more on the timid side and responds very well to direction. Elvis will make a wonderful addition to any home looking to add a fun puppy to the mix.

Tex is a character! He is a Husky but with wire hair, so we think he has some Airedale Terrier in him. He really is an amazing dog, very smart and sweet. He is housetrained and super friendly with people and other animals. We learned he is an escape artist – he broke out of his pen and jumped over a 6 foot fence! We realized he just needed time to settle in and he also wanted to be near people. He is a very socialized dog and loves to be with people. He would do great in an active home with a big family or with people who will take him everywhere with them. He would be a great adventure buddy. Tex is learning not to jump up on people. Other than that, he is a great dog. He is about 1.5 years old and weighs 60 lbs, could gain about 5-10 more lbs.
Max is one BIG cuddle bug (he is a 12 pounder!). He can’t stand not being petted and will roll on his back and present his belly to get affection. He LOVES belly rubs! His owner had to go into a nursing home and could not keep him. He does very well with other cats and loves everyone he meets. He is litter box trained and has only been indoors but might adapt to being outdoors some as well. Max would make a great family pet or lap pet for an older person. Max is about 4 years old, neutered and will fill your life with light.
**Maverick was enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program for 8 weeks of obedience training. He will be at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. He will be crate trained, learn manners, and he will learn lots of tricks as well! Ivy is a VERY tall and slender kitty. He has long legs and a long tail to match! He is super friendly and affectionate and he is a talker. He will tell you all about his day when you get home from work! He is such a sweet guy and enjoys being the only kitty in the home. He would be ok going outdoors once he settles into the home. Ivy is energetic and likes to play and explore. He will be a fun kitty for a family or couple, heck even a single person will love his company!
Samson is a super friendly kitten. He likes to play with his brothers and give them kisses. He enjoys affection as well and likes to be held. He is about 5 months old, litterbox trained, neutered and fully vaccinated. This sweetheart will brighten up your days with his cuteness.
Dover is a very affectionate, friendly, and energetic dog. His owner was just too old to care for him properly. He has been indoors and outdoors, and is partially house trained (occasionally marks). He really needs a family/person that can give him the play time he needs and the affection he deserves. Dover is good with other female dogs but tries to dominate the males. He loves to chase balls, chew on bones and craves human attention. He would make a great companion for an active someone or the perfect addition to an active family that wants a dog to bring along for the ride. Dover is currently 4 years old and weighs 57lbs.
Zane came to us with 6 of his siblings, Clover, Cora, Cici, Zeke, Margo and Mango. Dad is a Red Heeler and Mom a Shepherd Mix. They all have the biggest ears you have ever seen! Zane has been both inside and outside and is good with cats, kids, and other dogs. He is very timid but we are working on that and giving him tons of socialization and reassurance. He really enjoys affection, but he will take time (a few weeks) to settle into your home. Patience is necessary with puppies that are scared like this litter is. He is not house trained but we offer free online basic obedience and house training via Dog Academy. Zane will make a great addition to any home looking to add an active puppy to their family. He was born 1/1/25 and will be 40-50lbs full grown.
Leroy came from a home that has too many dogs. He and his 5 siblings grew up in a small pen with little socialization. He craves affection and accepts it! Leroy is underweight but has a healthy appetite and is eating well. Leroy is very sweet and just wants to be loved. He can be on the timid side at first, so he will take a little time to get used to you, but don’t let that stop you from taking this sweet boy home. He will make a wonderful dog for any patient person looking for a companion. He is about a year old and neutered. He is not housetrained but we offer free online obedience training to all of our adopters via Dog Academy.
Lefty came from a home that has too many dogs. He and his 5 siblings grew up in a small pen with little socialization. He craves affection and accepts it, but can be a little shy at first. He was so scared the first day he came to the shelter that we had to carry him everywhere. Today, he wonders around with curiosity and excitement. He is still a little timid, but is getting more confident each day. He just needs to learn that he is safe and that we aren’t going to harm him. Lefty had never been brushed or bathed before we got him so his coat is pretty ragged, but we are brushing him daily to get it looking good again. He is not housetrained but only goes in his outside area here, so should be easily trained. We offer free online obedience training to all of our adopters via Dog Academy to help with that. Lefty will be a wonderful dog for any dog loving home! He is about a year old and weighs 55lbs.
