Leroy

Black & Tan Coonhound Leroy is energetic and ready for action! He will alert you when anyone is approaching and will always be on the look-out. Leroy will take a little time to get used to you because he was raised in a small pen with no socialization, but don’t let that stop you from taking this sweet hound dog home. Once he is comfortable with you he loves pets and cuddles.

He will make a wonderful pet for any patient person looking for a companion.

Leroy is almost 2 years old and weighs 50 lbs.

Lefty

Lefty came from a home that had too many dogs. He and his 5 siblings grew up in a small pen with little socialization. He craves affection and accepts it, but will be very timid at first. He was so scared the first day he came to the shelter that we had to carry him everywhere.  He is still a little timid, but is getting more confident each day. He does great with the people that have taken the time to get to know him. You will either have to take him home and be patient with him, or keep coming to the shelter to visit with him until he knows you and is ready to go home with you. Lefty will be a wonderful dog for any patient person willing to work with him! He is about 2 years old and weighs 55lbs.

Petey

Petey is such a good boy! He loves other dogs and going for walks. If you tell him you’re going to take his picture he will pose for you (very cute!). He knows basic commands and is very eager to please. Petey can be timid around some people, but for the most part he is friendly. He would probably do best in a home with another dog to keep him company and give him confidence, but he might be just fine on his own in the right setting. Petey has great energy and is a fun dog that would make a great addition to any dog loving home. He is almost 4 years old and 55lbs.

Buck

UPDATE: We think people have been afraid to adopt Buck because he looks like Rottweiler, so we got his DNA test done. It turns out he is NOT a Rotti!! Check out the results in the photo:

This poor guy has been overlooked for 3 years! Yes, that is right, Buck has been here at the shelter since March of 2023. We are not sure why though…Buck has stolen all of our hearts. He has a fun energy and just loves to be included in things. He is a 60 pound ball of joy! Buck just wants to be where the action is and loves people. He does well with most other dogs, but prefers to be the only dog in the home so he can get all of the attention. Buck is house and leash trained and LOVES going for walks. He is also very good at entertaining himself with a good bone and he enjoys to lay on his bed with his blankets or on the picnic table in the sun. Buck will make a great dog for anyone who will smother him with love and take him on adventures or just sit on the couch and let him be there by their side.

Mikey

Mikey now has a sponsor that will:
– Cover his vet bills for the first year
– Help with food
– Help with fencing if you do not have any or need yours repaired
– Cover the Adoption Fee (home must be approved through SCHS).
Thank you to Fiddler’s Green for sponsoring Mikey in an effort to help find his forever home!

Mikey has been here at the shelter since January 2023…yes, he has been here over 3 years! He had been outside in a pen before coming here and not given any attention, so he is timid. I am not going to sugar coat it…he is afraid of strangers. He does not get aggressive in any way, he just shrinks down and tries to hide or run. This poor dog needs someone with a fenced in yard that will allow him time to get used to them and their property. He is all fun and excitement when he gets used to you and knows he is safe. Mikey loves to go for walks and chew on bones. He is not a huge fan of other e is a pretty neat guy once you get to know him. Will you open your home and your heart to this sweet boy so he can enjoy life outside of this shelter?!
