**Milo was enrolled in the Paws in Prison Program for 8 weeks of obedience training. He will be at the North Central Unit in Calico Rock. He will be crate trained, learn manners and he will learn lots of tricks as well! Milo grew up in a home with kids and was loved dearly, but they had to move into a small apartment and could not take him with. Milo can be a little shy at first but warms up quickly, especially if you have treats! He does great with kids and loves to play with other dogs. Because he loves to play, he really needs a yard he can run around in or someone who will take him on adventures. Milo is 2 years old and full grown at 31 pounds – so we think he has more Terrier or Kelpie in him than Husky, but we know mom had a lot of Husky in her. This little man will make a great family pet or companion for any dog lover. Can he come home with you?

Clyde is a very unusual color – a “muted” gray. He came to us with his sister, Bunny, and they both showed up as strays. The family that took him in took really good care of, they just couldn’t keep because they had too many cats. He is litter box trained, friendly, loves belly rubs, and his toys. He is also playful and affectionate.
Thor came from a bad situation where he and 11 other dogs were not being fed or given any attention. In spite of all that, Thor is friendly and craves affection. He loves back scratches and cuddles! He appears to be a little hard of hearing but he is not deaf. Since being here he has learned how to walk on a leash and sit for treats. He is very smart and eager to please. He is also a goofball and we all love him…you will too! Thor is about 3 years old, weighs 55lbs and is house-trained.
Finch came to us with his brother, Ford. They were surrendered from a family that had too many dogs they could not take care of. He is a little on the shy side, but warms up quickly with treats and gentle pets. His nick-name is “Mouth” because he gets his mouth searching all over us, looking for treats. Finch will not get much bigger than he is now (25 lbs) because he is already 9 months old. He has only been outdoors, but loves laying inside the shelter on his bed, chewing on toys. Finch is partially house trained and eager to please, so training shouldn’t be difficult. He would be good with other dogs and older, considerate kids (his searching for treats could overwhelm a small child).
Ford arrived with so much fear that we couldn’t touch him. He was surrendered from a home that had too many animals and just didn’t receive any socialization. We paired him with another puppy that loves people and he learned from her that people are good and pets are awesome! He is still a little scared but loves affection if you smother him with it! Ford has only been outdoors but is adapting well to an inside room and getting used to a bed. He has also learned to walk well on a leash. Ford is about a year old and almost full grown at 40lbs. He really needs a chance in a loving home and we feel he will really come out of his shell and blossom. Will you give Ford and his big ears a chance?
Ivy is a VERY tall and slender kitty. He has long the longest legs and tail you have ever seen on a cat. He is VERY good at entertaining himself with toys. As I type this, he is under my desk tossing around his taco toy, letting me get my work done. He is also very good at catching flies and would be a good mouser. Ivy is also VERY SPECIAL. He can have a “melt down” at any moment and act out. If he doesn’t like the way you smell, if you aren’t giving him enough attention, if you are giving him too much attention or petting him too rough…you never know what will set him off. But his spicy moments are easily avoided if you pay attention to his body cues. He let’s you know when is getting irritable and needs a snack or attention. Ivy needs a person/family that will be tuned in to his needs and willing to deal with his melt-downs. Ivy is such a sweet guy but needs to be the only pet in the home. He would do best as an indoor/outdoor kitty where he can play and explore inside and outside to his hearts desire. He would not be good with kids because he prefers a calm, gentle touch and environment. Ivy can be a handful, but is very fun, entertaining and lovable.
Samson is a super friendly kitten. He likes to play with his brothers and give them kisses. He enjoys affection as well and likes to be held. He is about 5 months old, litterbox trained, neutered and fully vaccinated. This sweetheart will brighten up your days with his cuteness.
Dover is a very affectionate, friendly, and energetic dog. His owner was just too old to care for him properly. He has been indoors and outdoors, and is house trained. He needs a family/person that can give him the play time and exercise he needs as well as the affection he desires. He LOVES walks but also likes to sit and chew on a good bone. Dover is good with most dogs, both male and female. He loves to chase balls, chew on bones and will go in circles for booty scratches. He would make a great companion for an active person/family. Dover is currently 4 years old and weighs 57lbs.
Leroy came from a home that has too many dogs. He and his 5 siblings grew up in a small pen with little socialization. He craves affection and accepts it, once he gets to know you. Leroy is slender but has a healthy appetite and is eating well. He is energetic and ready for action. He can be on the timid side at first, so he will take a little time to get used to you, but don’t let that stop you from taking this sweet boy home. He will make a wonderful dog for any patient person looking for a companion. He is over a year old and is neutered. He is not housetrained but we offer free online obedience training to all of our adopters via Dog Academy.
Lefty came from a home that has too many dogs. He and his 5 siblings grew up in a small pen with little socialization. He craves affection and accepts it, but can be a little shy at first. He was so scared the first day he came to the shelter that we had to carry him everywhere. Today, he wonders around with curiosity and excitement. He is still a little timid, but is getting more confident each day. He just needs to learn that he is safe and that we aren’t going to harm him. Lefty had never been brushed or bathed before we got him so his coat is pretty ragged, but we are brushing him daily to get it looking good again. He is not housetrained but only goes in his outside area here, so should be easily trained. We offer free online obedience training to all of our adopters via Dog Academy to help with that. Lefty will be a wonderful dog for any dog loving home! He is about a year old and weighs 55lbs.
