Monroe is very shy. He came to us as an owner surrender and was never given much attention, in fact, he’s been in a pen with his siblings all of his life. He has only been outside and we discovered he LOVE toys. He and his brother actually hoard them in their pen. He does well with other dogs and on a leash…he loves to go for walks. Monroe is one and a half and weighs 45lbs. We think he is a Catahoula/Heeler Mix.
Update: Monroe does not potty in his pen (housetrained?!) and now allows us to give booty scratches and belly rubs. He even takes treats from our hands! He is still a little skittish, but improvement is being made, and quickly!

This young black beauty has the most shiny coat of fur and stunning yellow eyes. She was very scared at first but comes to us for pets now. The woman who found Black Pearl said Miss Pearl was very scared with her at first too, but eventually graduated to sleeping on the pillow next to her. It may take a little while for her to come around, but we have come to know that she is a real sweetheart. Black Pearl is litterbox trained, spayed and current on vaccinations.
Petey is almost a year old and is eager to explore the world beyond the confines of the shelter (he has been here 7 months). He loves other dogs and going for walks. He also loves to chew on toys and he often offers his toys to the dogs in the yard next to his- he drops his bones where the other dogs can stick their paws through the fence and pull the toy into their yard. It is so funny! Petey has lots of love to give and would make a great addition to any loving home.
Gregory is an active 3 year old Pointer/Hound Mix that weighs 66 pounds. Gregory is a character and makes us laugh a lot. He gets so excited at walk time – he is like a kid in a candy store. Gregory has good energy and loves attention. He still remembers some of his commands from the program and is housetrained. He also gets along great with other dogs. Gregory loves to sunbathe but his favorite activity is going for walks. He would make a great hiking buddy or dog for any active family/person.
Amberly is almost 2 years old and weighs 50lbs. She resembles the Greater Swiss Mtn Dog with a beautiful thick coat of black with tan and white. She loves to play with toys, other dogs and go for walks. Amberly is smart and with the right person, you could train her very well! She came to us with her two siblings, Ada and Apple. Amberly was very timid when she got here and can be shy with strangers at first, but she is really blossoming! Amberly is also very smart and eager to learn; with the right person, you could train her very well! She has never been inside besides here, so is not house trained per say, but she only potties in her outside area and she does know how to use the doggie door.
Ada is a very down to earth dog. She enjoys going for walks and to get belly, as well as booty, scratches. She LOVES to play with other dogs and toys. She can be very shy at first with people, but warms up quickly. She will most likely do best in a home with other dogs, but we are not sure. Ada is just over a year old and weighs about 45lbs. She has a black patch over one eye and beautiful touches of brown throughout her coat. She really is a beautiful gal!
Georgia is a year and a half old and weighs 70lbs. She is slender and tall with beautiful bold brownish-red patches on her white fur. We think she may have some Greyhound and/or Great Dane in her. Georgia is friendly and loves other dogs but thinks cats are food. She has a lot of energy and loves to play in her water bowl. She does best with another dog to rough-house with but a home with no other dogs that offers constant attention will be just fine. She likes riding in the car as well, so she would be a great adventure buddy! Georgia does not realize how big she is and could knock younger kids down trying to play, so a home with older children/no children is suggested. Georgia also loves stuffed animals so much that she loves them to death (aka tears them to pieces).
Charity came to the shelter in the July of 2021 with her kittens. They were all adopted but she is still here. She was adopted to a family home once but brought back because she cried all night long. Charity would be a good barn cat because she is afraid of people but enjoys being inside when it’s cold. She likes to lay around and is pretty calm, but she is very shy/timid. If you move too quickly around her, she runs and hides in the rafters. She has recently started coming around and rubbing on our legs and letting us pet her, so she is getting friendlier. She has a beautiful swirl pattern on her fur and her eyes are just gorgeous! Charity is on the smaller side but is fully grown.
Salem was very scared when he arrived at the shelter and still doesn’t like attention. He came from a very loving home, but his owner passed away. We believe he is about 6 years old now. Salem keeps to himself but he is finally letting us pet him and he loves for his booty to be scratched. We were told he is used to being around dogs and doesn’t care if other cats are around, as long as they leave him alone. He is neutered, an inside/outside cat and is litterbox trained. He has the most gorgeous green eyes and a thick coat of fur. He would make a great companion for anyone that wants a cat, but not a lap cat.
