Red

Coonhoundcoonhound Red is a young Red Tick Hound (American English Coonhound). He loves affection and to be around people. We don’t know much about his past but we know that he is very good with other dogs and gentle enough for kids.  He has not been around cats, but we can introduce him to some if need be. Red is smart and playful and would make a great companion for anyone!

Jody

Jody is a very loving guy ready to share his heart with his forever family.  He showed up as a stray during the recent snow storm and the family could not keep him.  He is very friendly, loves other dogs and kids.  He hasn’t been around cats.  He is a little on the thin side now but should weigh about 60 pounds once we “fatten him up”.  He has one blue eye and one brown eye.  Jody loves toys and attention. He would make a great family pet!

Jody just entered the Paws in Prison Program in Calico Rock and will receive 8 weeks of obedience training.  He will be house/crate trained, learn various commands and may even learn a few tricks as well! He will graduate mid June.

Bridgett

Bridgett is seriously the sweetest, but a little on the shy side. She takes a few minutes to warm up to people, but doesn’t want to leave once you start petting her.  She is a 1 year old lab/pit mix and a little on the smaller side weighing only 43 pounds. I would describe Bridgett as a lover -she LOVES cuddles and to be right by your side.   She has been outside most of her life and is learning not to potty inside, which is going well. She is very good with other dogs and kids. She CANNOT be trusted with cats or other small animals, however.

Miss Bridgett just entered the Paws in Prison Program in Calico Rock and will receive 8 weeks of obedience training.  She will be house/crate trained, learn various commands and may even learn a few tricks as well! She will graduate mid June.

Remy

Mountain CurRemy is a little over a year old and 35 pounds. Her mother was a stray who gave birth on someone’s land and this is where she grew up, but the land owners did not take care of her (or her brother Ranger).  Not only was Remy’s skin in horrible condition when she got here but she was very thin and afraid. She tested positive for Ehrlichia (tick disease) and has finished her treatment for that. We also fattened her up (to a healthy size!). Remy is very shy and timid with strangers but warms up after a few visits. Remy loves to get her belly scratched and to cuddle.  Now all Miss Remy needs is a human she can trust, love and call family.

Phoenix

Lab/Grey Hound MixPhoenix is a goofy little gal. She was an outside dog with little to no interaction with other dogs or people.  We are working with her on socialization which is going well.  She does bark at new people but she is not at all aggressive and calms down after she knows she is safe. Phoenix has tons of energy and loves to play with other dogs, but doesn’t really know how. It is very entertaining watching her try to play with other dogs.  Phoenix walks well on a leash and loves to play in her water bowl. She also loves cuddles and booty scratches.

Chiff

Carolina Dog MixChiff is a 66 pound Shepherd/Carolina Dog mix. He doesn’t appear to have had much socialization but is a quick learner. His lack of socialization makes him a tad timid and he may bark at you, but that goes away after a few interaction. Chiff is more on the laid back side, unless it’s walking time. His absolute favorite thing to do is go on walks. He gets so excited he can barely control himself and because of this, he tends to pull on the leash but calms down after a few minutes. He would make a great hiking partner! Chiff is just a big goofball ready to find his new family.

Bear

Chow chowChow ChowBear is a 5 year old Chow Mix who has a gorgeous coat of thick, soft fur. He is not your typical chow, however.  He is a happy fella that is good with other dogs, as long as they are not bigger than him. He also does well with kids, but is not a fan a cats. Bear can often be found in the yard swinging rope toys around or playing with tennis balls. He tested positive for heartworms upon arrival to the shelter and has undergone treatment successfully. He will have to be on heartworm preventative the rest of his life which can be administered as a monthly pill or a shot that is good for 6 months-pretty easy!

Bear just finished the Paws in Prison Program in Calico Rock where he received 8 weeks of obedience training.  He was house/crate trained and learned basic commands.

Lucy

Terrier/Lab MixMeet Lucy. Lucy has been at the shelter for a total of 578 days (as of 2/6/2021). The reason Lucy has not found her forever home yet is because she is very shy and takes time to trust people. Once she feels comfortable around you, she is an amazing dog!  She loves playing catch and to run wild with other dogs in the play yard. She doesn’t get along well with other female dogs, so a home with no other animals or with a male dog she gets along with would be ideal.

Lucy needs a special someone to take her home and give her time to adjust and settle in.  If you would like to give this sweet girl a chance, please click the link below to fill out an adoption application and someone will contact you!

Bailey

Bailey is very sweet but also very timid and shy.  When she came to our shelter in September 2020, she was so afraid of people that she couldn’t even walk-we had to carry her from place to place. She has come along way and is learning to trust people. SHE IS NOT AT ALL AGGRESSIVE- just scared.  She LOVES to be around/play with other dogs and go for walks. Bailey needs a special someone who will take her home and give her the time (and space) to learn that she is safe. She would make a great companion for anyone willing to do so. We believe Bailey would do best in a home with other dogs; she feels safe around dogs and feeds off of their trusting energy towards people.

If you would like to give Bailey a chance, please click the link below to complete an adoption application and we will contact you to answer any questions and/or arrange a visit.
