Maria

Pit MixMaria is super sweet, mellow and laid back.  She is a 2 year old, 54 pound Pit Mix. She showed up as a stray and was not claimed.  The people that brought her to us said she was killing their chickens. She was a starving stray, however, and we believe that is why she did it. She was very thin and was probably very hungry. On a positive note, Maria LOVES everyone she meets. She’s good with other dogs and kids too.  When she first arrived here, Maria climbed our 4 foot chain link fence but did not run off. Since she has settled in here, she hasn’t tried to climb out again.  Maria would make a great family pet or companion for anyone!

Nova

Nova is a young, easy going and happy pup in need of a good home.  Her mother is a Mountain Cur mix and her Dad is an Argentino Mix.  She will probably be around 50 pounds full grown (she is currently 45 lbs). Nova was adopted in January but her owner turned out to be allergic to dogs, so she was brought back in April. The people that brought her back said she was a great dog and she did well with kids. Nova is very smart and knows how to sit.

Nova just entered the Paws in Prison Program (PIP) in Calico Rock where she will receive 8 weeks of obedience training.  She will be house trained, crate trained and learned basic commands. They may even teach her a few tricks! She will graduate PIP early November.

Remy

Mountain CurRemy is a little over a year old and 35 pounds. Her mother was a stray who gave birth on someone’s land and this is where she grew up, but the land owners did not take care of her (or her brother Ranger).  Not only was Remy’s skin in horrible condition when she got here but she was very thin and afraid. She tested positive for Ehrlichia (tick disease) and has finished her treatment for that. We also fattened her up (to a healthy size!). Remy is very shy and timid with strangers but warms up after a few visits. Remy loves to get her belly scratched and to cuddle.  Now all Miss Remy needs is a human she can trust, love and call family.

Phoenix

Lab/Grey Hound MixPhoenix is a goofy little gal. She was an outside dog with little to no interaction with other dogs or people.  We are working with her on socialization which is going well.  She does bark at new people but she is not at all aggressive and calms down after she knows she is safe. Phoenix has tons of energy and loves to play with other dogs, but doesn’t really know how. It is very entertaining watching her try to play with other dogs.  Phoenix walks well on a leash and loves to play in her water bowl. She also loves cuddles and booty scratches.
