Dewey was found starving and rummaging through trash at a campground in the National Forest. He only weighed 32 pounds, which he should be 60-70 pounds. He was brought to the shelter and we started him on a feeding regiment giving him small amounts numerous times a day. Dewey is heart worm positive and will receive treatment once he reaches a healthy weight. He also has a severe infection that we are treating with antibiotics. Despite his struggles, Dewey is a BIG SWEETHEART and loves affection. He just wants to be held and cuddled. He gives us hugs and lays in our laps, even though he is a large dog. He is house trained and enjoys laying in his bed.
**UPDATE: What a trooper Dewey is!! Dewey has gained all of the weight he needed to and is almost done with his HW treatment. His infection is gone, but he does have some liver damage. This does not appear to be affecting him as he is very happy and healthy doggo. Dewey will be neutered on the 20th of Feb and ready to find his forever home!
